About me & My Qualifications
Hello, My name is Rachel, I'm 29, and in 2019 I completed my Master's degree in Medieval Literature at The University of Birmingham. Before that, in 2017, I completed an English Literature and Language degree at Loughborough University and gained First Class Honours. I have extensively studied and analysed literature from all genres and authors for many years.
I also received an A* in my English GCSEs (full marks on language and literature papers) and an A* in A-level English Literature (full marks in the exam/equivalent to the new grade 9).
Tutoring is now my full-time profession, but I come from a library background in academic services. I am also a fully qualified exam marker and invigilator.
I am a certified CILIP librarian and I hold an enhanced DBS check to work with children.
I am highly academic and love to share my knowledge with others enthusiastically. Tutoring is an enriching process, and I will take the time to ensure you understand everything fully and (hopefully) develop a love for the subject! I see myself as being very calm and patient and good at explaining myself in clear spoken English. I always encourage questions and plan all of my lessons in advance to make the best use of the session.
As well as having five years of experience tutoring students in English literature and language of all levels (including creative writing, IGCSE and improving foreign students' fluency/pronunciation), I also teach GCSE (or younger students) Spanish. I lived there for 4 years and am fluent; I received an A* (full marks) for Spanish in my GCSE exam.
I live with my toddler, my wonderful husband and our two cats in Leicestershire.
