Working with your home-educated child.
Why I love working with them:
I work with EOTAS (Education Other Than At School) and with the private exams company Tutors and Exams (where I externally invigilate for private and homeschooled students.)
I love tutoring home-educated students. I find it incredibly rewarding to work with students who are eager to learn and who have the freedom to explore their interests at their own pace. I also enjoy the flexibility of being able to work with students one-on-one, which allows me to tailor my teaching to their individual needs.
One of the things I love most about tutoring home-educated students is the sense of community. I have met some amazing families and students through tutoring, and I have learned so much from them about different educational philosophies and homeschooling methods. I also appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the homeschooling community and to support other families in their educational journey.
Of course, tutoring home-educated students can also be challenging. Parents find it difficult to stay on track with the curriculum, and it can be challenging to find the right balance between challenge and support. This is where I come in because I am aware of what each student needs to learn should their parents want them to follow some or all of the curriculum appropriate for their age for when they take their GCSE or BTEC exams.
However, I find that the rewards of tutoring home-educated students far outweigh the challenges. I love seeing students learn and grow, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of their educational journey.
Here are some of the reasons why I love tutoring home-educated students:
I enjoy the flexibility of being able to work with students one-on-one.
I can tailor my teaching to the individual needs of each student.
I have the opportunity to learn from other families and students about different educational philosophies and homeschooling methods.
I feel like I am making a difference in the lives of my students.
If you are thinking about homeschooling your child, I encourage you to consider tutoring as a way to supplement their education. Tutoring can provide your child with the individualised attention they need to thrive, and it can also help you connect with other homeschooling families in your area.
